Default Why Are Four Modules Combined in to Activities?

When I go to the Activities tab, I get a list of my calls. But I personally don't schedule calls, so I just want the tasks. However, to get to tasks I have to click Activities, then Tasks. Every. Single. Time.

This seems to me to be an (annoying) side effect of a larger issue: that Tasks, Calls, Meetings and Notes are four separate modules combined in to a single tab. Since that one tab does so many things, it's no wonder it's sub-optimal for doing any one of those things.

So my question is: does anyone know why the activities tab is the combination of modules that it is today? Has it always been that way? Are there any plug-ins or modifications that let you separate the Activities out?

It's very easy for me to say "this is lame" because it's annoying me, but I imagine there's some very good design reasons for why Activities works the way it does. If anyone would be so kind as to explain them to me, I'd certainly appreciate it. Thanks.

I don't know why the four modules are combined but they were so since SugarCRM was born.

Open modules/Activities/views and find the words "Calls", then replace them with "Tasks".

Another way is to go to the My Account section and change the Navigation value to "Grouped Modules". You will find names of the four modules displayed when you put the cursor on the Activities tab.

I think it's in there because of the subpanel grouping. Otherwise, you would have 4 subpanels in every place where there is an Activities panel now...

You could even make Tasks a separate tab (without the grouping tabs feature), but it needs a line of code.

To follow-up with what ruchida says, if you go to the grouped module view (which is what everyone here uses) you can then create a new group and only put the activity you want in there. That way, just clicking on that group's tab will automatically bring up the task you put in that group.

This is true also of all the tab groups. Click on that main group tab brings up the left most module listed. So, Sales brings up Accounts and so on.

    Hello Ruchida,

you wrote, I can replace Calls with anythin in modules/Activities/views. But I donīt have this file here. I have SubPanelView.html/php, OpenListView.html/php and SubPanelViewContacts.html. (and 13 more files in this folder)

    Which file should I use?

    Thanks a lot in advance,
    Sonja

Is it possible to show more than one subpanel in Activities? What do I have to copy in Index.php?

    Kind Regards, Sonja
