Greetings,
Unfortunately, this is not an easy solution. I do lots of Sugar installations and this is common with "shared" hosting arrangements. I am not going to get into the specifics, but this boils down to a problem with using SUEXEC and the way that Sugar installer tests your configuration (NOTE TO THE POWERS THAT BE!!). Your system, most likly will work fine with this. The problem is with the way that Sugar tests for your session directory and using SUEXEC, this method will not test true.
To save you time, I will simply post an easy solution to this problem that will get you past and install your new Sugar. Please follow the following directions.
1 - Use FTP or another editing software to open the following file: *root directory where you placed sugar*/install/checkSystem.php (you can also edit a local copy and then transfer it to your server.)
2 - Goto line #399 and #405 of this file and place a # at the beginning of each of those lines. You will see $error_found = true; on those lines.
3 - Save this file and load it to your server.
4 - Refresh or reload the initial configuration page and *it will still say failed* , BUT you can now click (Next) and continue the install with no problems.
I hope this helps get you through your install. If you are interested in any further help, please feel free to contact me through my work contact information below. Have a great day!
