Question How to add leads automatically?

    Version 6.0.3 (Build 4339)

Hello, I am new to Sugar and I have done a lot of reading but apparently not in the right place.

I currently have a form on my website that basically captures the visitors information, then adds the info to a MySQL database and fires off an email to me which lets me know I have a new lead. This setup has been this way for a few years and has nothing to do with Sugar.

What I want to do is to get that lead info directly into Sugar in some sort of automated fashion without re-inventing the wheel.

Is there some sort of PHP api I could use on my server to get the lead into Sugar?

I have tried to go the route of pulling the emails in that the form generates but it seems I can only create a "Case" in an automated way based on incoming emails and not leads as I want.

I am open to any suggestions to accomplish this with Sugar, as I am trying to migrate over to Sugar to handle my lead management. Right now I am using Sugar but I am manually adding the leads by copy and paste and it's a huge pain.

Thanks for your help in advance!

    HI there, happy new year!

As you say, theres an API for data integration with other systems, but the fastest way to achieve the lead making form web site is (for me) using the Web-to-lead form.

Inside the Marketing tab you'll find the wizard, with it you can create a simple form and add it to your current web site, being able to pick the fields you need to capture for the lead creation inside the CRM, after the creation of the form, the CRM will give you the base code, so you can manipulate it and add styles, colors and all that kind of stuff.

Tell us how it went!!. Cheers!

Nahh don't sweat it, it was part my bad, i had the idea of a 5.x sugar, look for the wizard in the Campaigns module, in the actions bar, there you'll find the Web-to-lead form.

    Good luck!!

    One more question..

Part of what my current form does is send an emailed auto-response to the person that fills out the form. Without the auto-response, the whole thing is useless.

Is there any way for me to fire an email auto-response or to run a php script each time the form is submitted?

There is a basic example of how to do this on my blog:

You can modify that same idea to do all kinds of things. For example, I've had some clients ask me to tie it into an email template or send HTML, etc.
