Leads Auto Assignments in Sugar CRM???

Hi All,

We are looking for a Lead Management System that has the capability of automatically assigning the leads to assignees based on the geographical location of the lead and the assignee. We are in process of exploring Sugar CRM for this requirement.

However, so far we could find only following mention of something like this on Sugar CRM's web site - http://www.sugarcrm.com/crm/products...ing/leads.html :

"Lead Conversion
Close-the-loop between marketing and sales by automating the lead hand-off process. Design business rules to route the lead to the correct salesperson based on territory, team or specialty."

Can someone let us know if Sugar CRM supports something like this or some other way of specifying dynamic criteria for lead assignments? If yes, where can we find some clear instructions to configure the same?

Let me clarify my case little bit more.

We have many consultants (in thousands), leads are to be gathered on web and automatically assigned to consultants based on the geographical location (and few more parameters). For example a lead from New York will be assigned to the a consultant who is closest to the location of the lead. Can this be done?

Also please answer:
Can't we do it directly in SugarCRM using some configurations?
We can build things in Java quite well. Can SugarCRM be customized using Java as the language?

If we don't have any option then we can think of outsourcing this customization but only after we have enough information that we can't do it the way we want to do it. Any links related to this will be of great help.

Even am looking for a "automated lead distribution" feature. What I want to do is route the gathered leads to the appropriate person based on few predetermined rules (which may be geography). Also these rules should be configurable.
Is it possible to achieve with Sugar?

We can not do this using some configuration, but we can develop functionality that will allow you set the assigned user for leads.

What you are asking for is prettxy easy to accomplish. Simply use the custom hook in the save of the lead. If no user has been assigned make a determination based on geographic location. Easy way would be to assign an address to your consultants and store their geo coordinates (Google offers easy APIs to do this) and then serach the closest one by the geocoordinates from the lead. Should be an effort for 1 to 2 days for a versed php folk.

Easier would be to assign e.g. by ZIP Code or similar.

So, in the community edition there is not a way to auto assign leads to users? This requires customization?

If you have sales personnel assigned to particular product lines, you can design your webforms so that you have a separate webform for

hardware
software
services
maintenance etc

Each of these webforms can be assigned to a particular salesperson so when the form is submitted it is auto assigned to the correct person
