Default Newbie Call List Export Question

Just started using SugarCRM and enjoy it very much. However, I can't do what I'm trying to do. I use SugarCRM for cold calling purporses as well as managing leads and opportunities. I enter new contacts as I source them and then schedule initial or follow-up calls in "Calls." However, when I export my Call List as a CSV file, I don't get the name of the person I'm trying to call, or their phone number. I have a limited amount of time to make my cold calls each day and don't want to waste it looking these things up. How can I get my contact's name and phone number in the exported CSV data file when I export my call list?

This isn't a newbie question, it's a good question. Unfortunately the answer is "You can't". There is a bug/deficiency in the export function. Especially in Calls, Tasks, Meetings and the like. The current export function (when it works right) exports all the fields in the table verbatim. Which means it will not export the contact name, just the contact's id number from the table. It is really more suited to backups and moving data between SugarCRM installs.

In order to get it to export contact_ids, you have to enter a '%' (or some other search pattern) in the Contact Name search function. It seems that only when you are doing a search for a contact name does the query even return contact names.

I am working on SugarExport, which is an offshoot of SugarPrint (Almost exact same code but outputs a csv file instead of a PDF) and it will do all you want and more. I should have it ready early in the week.

Wow. Ok, cool. Thanks a lot for the info. I can't wait to get your program. In the meantime, I'll investigate SugarPrint.

I was watching the Sales Management demo and it mentioned Reports that seemed to be able to what I want. In fact, there was even a demo "Call list by last date contacted" report under the field "All Published Reports." However, a search of the Open Source User Guide revelealed no way for me to generate that report. Am I right that it's not an enabled feature in the open source version?

By the way, where can I download your SugarPrint module??

Reports are in the PRO and Enterprise version only. Not the OS version.

No, It's not ready yet, I decided to make these two available through SugarExchange. I am working on a trail version of both programs and the ful versions will be available for between $10 and $20 when finished later this week.

I am a newbie too and we had the same problem. We ended up creating a custom report which DOES allow us to include the contact's name and phone number. We print the report instead of using a CSV/Excel file.
Unfortunately, our sales reps want to work from the Sugar screen, not a print out, so we're still after Sugar to modify the call list views to include phone numbers. Anyway...you may want to try a custom report.

What is status of this? This should be most basic function in free version, but from what I see it's not supported at all? kbrill, is your software done?

I am confused as to how it was imagined that I would use sugar. If I need to make 50 prospecting calls per day, how will I do it in sugar? I hope I won't have to click on 50 accounts manually and then in each one of them schedule a call and then close each call manually? These are very short and routine calls and I am currently wasting more time handling sugar than those calls.
