4.5.0c to 4.5.0d help

I'm new to Sugar and trying it out. The install of 4.5.0c a short time ago went fine. I tried the upgrade patch to 4.5.0d.
It seeemed to go fine (except for having to reload the browser after every click of the "next" button) using the wizzard but I'm not sure.

everything seems to be working however I got an e-mail from the system saying:

Please use whichever diff method is most familiar to you to merge these files. Until this is complete, your SugarCRM installation will be in an uncertain state, and the upgrade is not complete.

Backups of Overwritten Files are in the following directory:
MyWebsitePath/sugar/cache/upload/upgrades/patch/SugarSuite-Patch-4.5.0d-restore

Manually merge the following files:

***A list of 34 files (themes and modules)***

I did click the radio button for Automatically Merge files in the wizzard, so do I really have to do a manual merge? And if so, is there someplace in the wiki or anywhere else that I can find instructions for such? I have MySQL and phpMyAdmin on my server.

Thanks for the help, I serched for info on this but I guess it's too basic a question for anything to written about it - I'm a noob.

No one knows if I actually need to do a merge? even just a yes or no would help. If I just know that I do have to do it to keep Sugar working properly, I might be able tofigure out how on my own....

Same issue going from 4.5.0d to 4.5.0f. I didn't modify any sugar files. do I need to merge them? Am I supposed to check the boxes or uncheck them? Some explanation of this would be helpful.

Does using the studio to add custom fields count as modifying the files?
