Default 4.5.1 OS - Mass Update -Assign To - Display Anomaly

I did a Mass Update of the Assigned To field this morning, assigning all users to me, and now all my contacts display like :

Last Viewed: Ken LyAmicke Ken LyDel Russoe Ken LyEdgare

where my name is Ken Lyle and the contacts are Amick, Del Russo, and Edgar.

The data in the database is fine, thankfully.

Just a nuisance, but I'd like to get it fixed.

    Thanks,
    Ken

Sugar QA attempted to reproduce the problem as we understand it. We have not been able to reproduce the issue so far. We'll perform more testing shortly.

    Thanks,
    Franklin

Hey! That's awesome! I am attaching a snip of a screen snap.

The database I had upgraded to 4.5, then downgraded to 4.2.1, which I think is irrelevant, because the names displayed correctly before I did the mass update.

During the mass update, I selected 60 records 20 at a time, then unselected them page by page, then decided it would be most prudent to just select one record. I was surprised to see that 20 records got updated. It was like there was a caching, or lag, in the 'tag set'.

Anyway, after that, I set the number of records per page in listview to 150, so that I could get all my Contacts without paging, and just selected them all again out of laziness, and assigned them to the user whose name is Ken Lyle, by clicking my name in the window displayed after the Select button for Assigned To:

I noticed this effect after that. I see this even when I log out and in in Firefox.

It doesn't happen to my administrative user.

It DOES happen when I log in to IE 7 as ken, but, again, not to the administrative user.

The effect survives quitting and restarting Firefox. It remains after running ZoneAlarm Internet Security Suite 7.0 Cache Cleaner, and emptying the Firefox cache. Bizarre.

    Thanks,
    Ken

    Hi Ken,

I followed your steps on 4.5.0 and still couldn't reproduce this problem.

    Two questions:
    1) Is your Sugar version actually 4.2.1, not 4.5.0, when this happened?
    2) How did you downgrade from 4.5.0 to 4.2.1?

    Thanks,
    Franklin

No, this is a BRAND NEW 4.5.1 install. The data were ported/imported from the downgraded 4.2.1, after I'd used it for a couple of months.

That downgrade was accomplished with a script I got from this site. As I recall, it just trimmed out the stuff that got added between 4.2.x and 4.5, then I installed a new 4.2.1 and pointed it at that database. I used that install for while, but then something broke it, and I couldn't upgrade.

I don't think that this can be solved in a retrospective fashion. There are just too many variables.

I suggest you pose it to your developers...something is storing my name when I do the mass update in a way that it displays over the contact's name, but only for the user who did the mass update. I bet that's enough clues for them to solve it.

    Thanks,
    Ken

    Hi Ken,

Which build do you have? You can get it from the About box.

    Thanks,
    Franklin

Hi kenlyle, can you run the Diagnostics function accessible via Admin and post the results here? (The ZIP file is free of sensitive info but you should check anyway.)

    Thanks,

A cursory glance at the diag output suggests that all is well. But I'll ask the Dev team to take a further look at it.
