Hi All,
Using any version of the new Sugar 5 including c we've had major IMAP and POP issues with gmail.
Before I start, if anyone has successfully got GMAIl and SUGAR 5 working properly with either IMAP or POP then please please I beg you to post.
IMAP
Sugar does image the folders but you have to sync not check mail as checking mail says there is new mail but doesn't grab it if there are too many emails in the inbox. Sync does work but after a while (over a few hundred emails) its too slow and takes 30 seconds to check. Soon it will be 30 minutes...
POP
It grabs the mail ok and gmail will archive it but when you try to import it says the email has been deleted or already imported regardless if it's still sitting in the gmail inbox. I think sugar is trying to fetch something from gmail even though sugar has the whole email by this time. in summary, importing doesn't work so the email never gets associated with a contact and is deleted.
IN GENERAL
Email is SO important, Though 4.5 doesn't have cool java folders it does actually work. It grabs email and also links the email to actual contacts so you don't need to import. And when you do import in the new sugar it displays as unread in the contact even though you read it back in the inbox and applied a case etc.... to the email.
Email should just check, be in an inbox, or myemails and link it to a client automatically showing the client details. If the email is deleted, then it's deleted from sugar, the contact etc.... if it's archived then it goes into the sugar database linked forever until it's deleted from under the contact, account, case or whatever.
Fetching headers, back forth, checking the mail server I think should be an option only. Gmail and a few other servers we tried obviously doesn't like it. 4.5 works fine. And yes as sad as it is we are rolling back this week. argh!!! new database!
Really email needs to be fixed ASAP if sugar expects to win the hosted war.. there are so many posts about email issues with sugar.
We have other bugs that we will post in time about Sugar5 but sales teams from our company don't care as much as long as they can send, receive and track emails as easy and quickly as possible..
