Default 5.0 to 5.2 Importing question

We recently installed 5.2 on a new server, the old server is running 5.0. What is the best way to import information from the previous version to the new. We have looked every where in 5.2 for an import tab but are not seeing that so if you can direct me on where that is, this maybe more simple than I think.

    Thanks!

    Hi Kate

You may use the Silent Upgrade tool to upgrade the 5.0 version to 5.2, this will upgrade the database, so you can edit the config.php of the previous installed 5.2 to point to just upgraded database.

Thank you Andre for that suggestion but the two versions are on two different servers. Would this still work.

Upgrade your old version as Andre said - dump the database and import it to the new server. Then adjust the user/permission accordingly and point your new php.ini to the imported database.

When we tried to upgrade it did not work and so it became a fresh install. We now just need to import the old projects from the old DB to the new install of the 5.2 version. Is there some way to do this?

You may want to try installing 5.0 on the new server, then moving the old 5.0 database to that server so you have a fresh 5.0 install working with the old 5.0 database.

Once that's done, try the upgrade again. If it works, you can then connect your already existing 5.2 install to the upgraded database or leave it as is.

You can always move the data via MySQL admin tools such as phpMyAdmin/SQLyog, but it is generally not recommended that you do that because that process wouldn't take into account any schema differences or the like.
