About LinkBacksNow what? I can't figure out what to do with it, I've extracted files to my laptop but there's no simple install or anything. I know I'm probably a donkey, but please help!

Hi Rick
You need to extract the zip into the htdocs of apache or www_root of IIS.
Then you need to go to http://yourmachine/folder_sugar/install.php using your favorite browser.

Another option would be to download the "stack installers", which install everything (Apache, MySQL, PHP, plus Sugar) for you.
You can find them on this page (the downloads page from SugarForge). At this very moment, they're updating the bits to post a new patch release, but you should see the result of that update very soon (it only takes minutes to update).
