    Default 5.2j lead to contacts

When you convert a new lead to contact. and there is a contact already. then i just want to update the info from lead to contact. so i make the choice select. then it tells me contact has been updated. but the fields has not been updated from leads. the leads info has not been carried over to contacts.

    Should it or niot?

SugarCRM does not overwrite the Contact info with the Lead info .. it builds the relationship between the Lead and the Contact only

More or less anything can be done with SUgarCRM. The questions are twofold:

"how complex a change is this". The answer is that it is not a complex change but requires custom coding. It is unlikely to be upgrade safe.

    and

"how desirable a change is this" ... if you have a new Lead for a Contact that already exists and the information in the existing Contact is more accurate than the information in the Lead, then you will lose the accurate information if you overwrite it with Lead information. Contacts generally should have a higher degree of integrity than Leads.

understoor, but surely you could have a mege field the same as when you merge 2 contacts . then hold the most relevant onformation of the 2?

A way to do this out of the box would be to just create the new Contact and then use the Merge functionality to merge the 2 records together. You would have the option to select which data from the 2 records you wish to keep.

    hi sugar cane.
That is the way we are doing it at the moment. just tedious work at the moment, as the guys are doing between 50 and 100 a day. where just about 10 of them have different addresses etc.

    regards
