5.5.4 modules on 5.5.0?

I am currently evaluating modules from SugarForge for possible use in our Sugar CRM installation (CE 5.5.4).

Can you tell me if I can expect modules that suport 5.5.0 (like this one: http://www.sugarforge.org/projects/birthdaydash - but that's just an example) to run smoothly on 5.5.4?

It depends how those modules was created by developers.

I think that SugarCE 5.5.0 and SugarCE 5.5.4 has a little differences.
So, I think you can try to install those modules on SugarCE 5.5.4 with no problem.
