    Default Access denied for user ''@'localhost' to database 'sugarcr

    I am trying to install the Community Edition of 5.2.0e faststack.
    I ran the installer I downloaded. When it finished, it launched the installer (http://127.0.0.1/sugarcrm/install.php).
    When I went through these steps, I received the following error:
    Unable to select database: Access denied for user ''@'localhost' to database 'sugarcrm'
    What do I need to do to fix it?

    Pertinent info:
    OS=Windows Vista 32-bit
    The following were installed as part of SugarCRM pkg:
    Sugar=5.2.0e Community Edition
    Server=Apache 2.0.59
    DB=MySQL
    PHP=5.2.5

    TIA

    You probably did not specify an username and password defined into MySQL server.
    Make sure you know a valid username and password with privilege for create new users and database.

    Hi John,

    I have just spent some hours trying to install the FastStack into the same environment (complete SugarCRM and WAMP Newbie).

    When your installer finished, but before launching the web-based part (http://127.0.0.1/sugarcrm/install.php), did you get an error message pop-up. I got the following:

    "There has been an eror.
    Unknown error while running D:/PROGRA~1/SUGARC~1.0F/apache2/bin/htpasswd -cb "D:\Program

    Files\sugarcrm-5.2.0e/apache2/users" administrator administrator
    The application will exit now"

    After some trying I figured that you could run the htpasswd command manually on the command line. But it failed. And the reason is because the path name used has inconsistant use of forward and backslashes:

    D:\Program Files\sugarcrm-5.2.0e/apache2/users" administrator admininistrator

    So I decided to try re-installing and when the executable installer prompts for an install location change the path to the UNIX style (in red above), so
    D:/Program Files/sugarcrm-5.2.0e/

    The install worked okay and the application loads fine.

    So it is just a bug in the installer, using a mis-match of backslashes!

    I hope this helps

    Cheers,

    Rob.

    Hi John,

    Did you manage to get your problem fixed? I am having the same problem you did. But I don't quite understand how to go about fixing it based on Andre's reply. If you got to resolve it, please help to reply and explain in detail the steps how u went about doing it. Thanks so much

    Hi Andre,

    How do I know what's a valid username and password with privilege for creating new users and database? Where do I get this info? Please help. Thanks
