    Default accessibility of private contacts

    Hello Sugar users!

I am setting up Sugar for a non-profit organization that is distributed around the world.

A number of members would like to maintain private contacts and private appointments within Sugar but in such a way that only themselves can see these contacts.

    Is this possible?

In "Roles" there is a group "leaders" that can view "all" contacts. Does this override the possibility to have private (hidden) contacts?

Is it for example possible that I have a private entry in a calendar that I myself see with all information, but other (non-authorized or assigned) people can see only as blocked in general?

I would highly appreciate advice how to set up such scenario and if it is not possible with OpenSource version I would like to know what I need (customizing: is there a solution already availabel somewhere?) to implement this.

Thank you very much in advance!

Hello, when you're setting up roles there is the huge portion of the ACl that controls exactly what a person can and or cant see.
click on the specific role and then hit Edit, I would go to the Contacts row and set the view to OWNER. This will tell the system that they can only see contacts assigned to themselves.

let me know if you need a better answer.

    Hello Joe!

Thanks for quick answer - I think my problem is a bit more complex. The organization is organized in several teams. I need to set permission for team 1 (role 1) to be able to see data from team 1 and team 2, but team 2 should be able to see only data of team 1. Furthermore team 3 should be able to see data from team 1 and team 3, but nevertheless any member of any team should be able to hide their private data (calendra entries, tasks, calls etc.) from all other persons.

So we have 1 official layer of access rules that should be flexible to configure and there should be a private layer of data that people can set accessibility rules for as they like, not being constrained by other team relations and rules.

I hope you can catch my needs better from that now.

If I set view contacts to "owner" I will never be able to see contacts of someone else or another team, right?

Thank you very much again for helping me!

    Hello

    Team security:
Users of team 1 have to be member of team 1 AND team 2 to be able to see entries of team 2. And if users of team 3 should be able to see entries of team 1, they have to be member of team 1.

    Private entries:
Private entries must be assigned to the private team of a user. Only administrators can view entries assigned to a private team.

    Hope this helps you.

Ok, sounds as if we are approaching the solution.

How can I create my private team? Just create a role that contains only me as a member? I did not find any other switch or so for private!

Please note that we are using the OpenSource version. As far as I understood the Pro or Enterprise version allow more administration for teams...

Sorry, team and private team functionality is only available with Pro/Ent version.
