    Default Adding call status dropdown in account module, not in calls

    Using Sugar Community 4.5.1e.

    We really need to display and be able to search accounts and/or contacts by call status IE. called no answer, called disconnected, called contacted lead, etc. The problem is, as I understand it, the calls drop down planned, held, etc. can't be added to or changed....I'm not sure if that is absolutely correct. At any rate, It appears that it might be an easier way to accomplish the same thing by adding a dropdown in studio in the accounts module with the status of the most recent call. Or maybe since we want to call each record at least three times, dropdowns showing the dispositions of the three most recent calls. We would still use the calls tab to schedule calls but it just looks like too much trouble when looking at an account or a contact to simply log a call that has been completed and the results of that call.

    I'm extremely new to this application and sure would appreciate any input. This is for a small business development/telemarketing operation and although not a programmer, I'm not opposed to editing a PHP file or two.

    You know as I read my initial post, I'm worried that my goal isn't very clear so please let me know if I need to clarify my intent in making this modification. I Really do hope it is possible though.

    It is very possible, actually.

    But, please don't get me wrong here, I'm not considering explaining these kind of changes to non-programmers to be a hobby of mine. You could:

    - Create a new custom field in the Studio using the existing call status options list
    - Add a hook to Accounts, querying the database for the status of the last call or something, whatever you want
    - Add a hook to Calls that updates the parent Account when some business logic rule applies

    It heavily depends on your exact needs. And, as I've pointed out earlier, I'm honestly not comfortable giving you code when you're not a programmer. Please, just get some Sugar integrator to do it for you...

    Thanks a lot for your comments. Although I appreciate your input, I can't help but feel a little discouraged at the prospect of hiring someone to work on this as a customization project. Am I really in that far over my head with these wants?
