Adding custom field to Case edit layout???

I am trying to add a custom field "Contact" which works much like the Account field/search with in the create/edit of a Case entry.

I know where to go in order to create a new custom field, however not sure how to get the custom field to work like the Account field,

Any suggestions??

Hi,
can i suggest to make us this request more clear ,because , i cant understand exactly what do you want.
Do you want to connect the field with module accounts and use for search ,and pick the account to enter into Case?
Or just to attach the field to edit Custom?
i hope that you will solve this, unless sand post with better explanation.
