    Default Adding custom fields

I have gone to the Studio option under the admin menu option, I am trying to add a custom field into the accounts module. I added the custom field and inserted it into a location above the Account name field. I then proceeded and selected the save and publish option.

When I go to the account tab and select "Create Account", the page that opens does not contain the new field. If I save the new account, in the next page I can see the custom field that I added. However when I go to edit the account, the custom field is again missing.

Any suggestions on how to correct the problem, I have tried to restart the entire SugarCRM application, however that did not seem to correct the problem.

    Michael.

    Hi Michael,

When you are trying to add a custom field to accounts module you have the following on top of the Add Custom Field.

Layouts: Detail View | Edit View | List View | Search Form
Subpanels: Contacts | Opportunities | Leads | Cases | Member Organizations | Bugs | Projects

By default 'Detail View' page is displayed. So, when ever you are adding a custom field it is only viewed when you are saving the account. If you want to view it under 'Create Account' goto 'Edit View' and add a custom field there. I think this solves your problem.

    Hi,

For our version of the software, studio will only put the new fields in the detailed view. Edit View I had to do by hand. Read this thread http://www.sugarcrm.com/forums/showthread.php?t=21192.

    Good luck,
    John

Make sure you make changes in both "Detail View" and "Edit View".
