Adding notes to contacts

Does anyone know of a way of importing notes to existing contacts already in Sugar?

I get a csv file from our distributors and I need to attach their updates to contacts. I tried through the import notes section, but the notes don't attach to any contacts!

Don't know what I am doing wrong - any help, really appreciated.

I am wondering how to find Sugar Contact IDs of Contacts already in Sugar so I can relate an import of notes to each contact.
