adding onchange to Opp.sales_stage

I want to add some onchange function to Opportunity.sales_stage. However, there is a block of javascript - that sits somewhere outside of EditView.html - that sets the onchange behavior for thta field. So if it put an onchange in the select element, it is ignored. Where do i find the javascript that generates the onchnage code for sales_stage? (I'm in 4.5.1 pro, if that matters.)

More than 1 year before this thread was started (and without any answer) I'm having the same problem in SugarCRM 5.0.0b.

sales_stage field accepts onBlur() event though.

Any ideas in this problem?
