    Default Admin configure email accounts for user

    Hi,

    i am quite new to sugar and using 6.0.2 community edition. i just setup the email account (inbound and outbound) for admin and tested it successfully. We are using an exchange server.

    When i log on with a normal user i have to configure the inbound email settings for that special user. Is there a central way for the administrator to prepare all the email account infomation for every user?

    Thx in advance!

    Hi xviperforcex,
    did you find a solution to your problem?

    I also have a situation where I cannot require each user to configure his mail account on his own.

    Can I, for example, attach an autoconfigure script to run when a user makes his first login?

    Best Regards,
    Marcin

    Hello,

    Do you mean outbound email? If yes, then you can check the option in Email Settings, Allow users to use this account for outgoing email. That should do the trick.
    Thumbs up.

    Hi,
    I mean both, Incoming and Outgoing Email account settings. I need to be able (as an admin) to configure personal email account details (for IMAP and SMTP, as shown in the attached screenshot) for other Sugar users. The Sugar version I am currently working with is 6.1 CE.

    Regards,
    Marcin

    I forgot to mention, that each user needs to have settings which are unique to him. For example:
    "From name", "From address", "Reply to" fields and IMAP folder mappings can be different for each user.
    This means that the email account settings need to be personalized (by admin) for each user.

    Regards,
    Marcin

    A workaround I found to be working is:

    1. Login as admin
    2. Disable "Enable System-Generated Passwords Feature" in manage password (Admin)
    3. Admin -> User Management-> Edit User ->Password -> set a temporrary password
    4. Login as the user
    5. "Click through" and fill all the stratup settings
    6. Configure the email settings & log out
    OPTIONAL:
    7. Login as admin.
    8. Enable "Enable System-Generated Passwords Feature" in manage password (Admin)
    9. Admin -> User Management-> View User->Reset Password

    Steps 2,3,4,5,7,8,9 can be both redundant and time consuming.
    That's why it would be great to do the same with out the logout & login hassle.
