    Default Admin/Studio/Edit a Module/Leads/Edit Layout/Edit View Problem

    When in the edit page (Admin/Studio/Edit a Module/Leads/Edit Layout/Edit View) for the Leads Module I can't control the columns or the size of Text Area boxes for Custom fileds.

    For example, the Edit View of the Leads module has side-by-side data entry fields in the Lead Information and Address Information sections. However, in the Description section there is only one text area box. I need to add additional custom fields in this area. If I add rows in the Description section I get a large placement rectangle on the left and a very small rectangle on the far right of the screen. My problems are -

    1. I can add a single custom field at the location of the large placement box, but cannot put one next to it (and clicking on the small box on the right causes it to disappear.)

    2. If I add a text area custom field there is no opportunity to set the size of the text box and a relatively small text box is all that shows up.

    3. I cannot figure out how to add my own data sections - like the Lead Information data section.

    I am using the Open Source version of SugarCRM version Version 4.5.1b (Build 1246).
    Apache version is 1.3.37 (Linux)
    Perl = 5.8.7
    PHP = 5.0.5
    MySQL = 4.1.21 - standard - log

    Any ideas to the solution to the issues above would be appreciated.

    Thanks for your help,

    Bic Wood

    Hi, bicwood,

    I'm not sure if I completely understand all of your issues, but I'll take a stab at some of them. Well, at least one.

    First off, some of what you want done will have to be done manually by changing the html file directly. But you will want to change the file that is found here:

    sugarcrm\custom\working\modules\Leads

    And once you've made your mods, go into studio to EditView and Save and Publish. This causes what is in the \working directory to overwrite what is in the \Leads directory.

    1. I can add a single custom field at the location of the large placement box, but cannot put one next to it (and clicking on the small box on the right causes it to disappear
    I'm not sure what small box you're speaking of.

    2. If I add a text area custom field there is no opportunity to set the size of the text box and a relatively small text box is all that shows up.
    This is the one for which I have personal knowledge. You just have to go into the aforementioned html doc and manually set the height and width for the textbox. That one is simple.

    3. I cannot figure out how to add my own data sections - like the Lead Information data section.
    I haven't done that before. Should be possible. Would look in the same place for that though.

    Hope that helped some.

    Tim,

    Thanks for the help.

    Changing the text box parameters in the HTML solved that issue. I think the other issues can also be resolved by editing the HTML.

    No problem Toby. Let me know if you have any other questions. I have fortunately left Sugar behind for a while and moving on to other issues within my company, but I want/need to keep my hand in it, so let me know if you have any other questions. Not that I will necessarily have the answers though.
