Red face after upgrade from 4.2 to 5.1 I can not see Custom field in Studio to add

We had a couple of custom fields on the contact layouts and now I do not see them in "Studio to add them to the layout. It appears that they are not in the Table structure. But when I look at the MySQL table the fields are listed there. How can I get these fields to appear in the available fields in studio so that I can add them to the layout. Thank you. I am new to sugar and hope that someone can assist.

    Hi Kelie

Upgrading from 4.2 to newer version does not save the custom fields.
So you need to re-create them in Studio.
But don´t be panic! The fields into cstm tables are there and their content are saved!

    Cheers

the fields exist with data in them in the table structure. After I recreate the field is there a way to associate it with the existing fields. Or do I need to write a script to move the data to the new fields?
