ajax example?

hi guys
i'm trying to add some validation on my form, probably using ajax rather than logic hook. I cant however find helpful resources on wiki and forum. Could anyone help steer me in the right direction or share some resources?

In an other project I used the tw-sack AJAX library from http://www.twilightuniverse.com/projects/sack/ .
This allows the definition of javasctipt events on input fields which call server functions for data processing.
The result can be written into div-elements (error-field, or data-field).
Perhaps this can help.
There is not enough information about the AJAX functions used by sugar itself, perhaps they have simular mechanisms.
