Default Archived email attachments not links

We have an opportunity whose history subpanel shows a number of notes and archived emails.
    Both of these have attachments.

In the history listview, the Attachment for the Note shows as a paperclip and is a clickable link, opening the PDf or spreadsheet or whatever else the attachment is.

However the Attachment for the Archived Email shows the paperclip, but there is no clickable link - it's just the image display with no anchor tag.

This is in Firefox. In IE the paperclips don't show at all.

    Anyone got this working?

Which versions of the respective browsers are we talking about? Are you able to launch the attachments if you read the mail?

Firefox 7.0.1 - using firebug you can see the archived email attachment isn't even a link - just an img.
Yes, if I click on the Subject link, the PDF attachment at the bottom exists and can be clicked on

IE 8.0.7600.16385 - doesnt show paperclips

    Chrome 15.0.874.106 m - same as Firefox.

    cheers
