Assigning leads to individual users

Hi, all -

I searched the forums a bit and couldn't come up with exactly what I was looking for. Close, but no cigar, as they would say.

So say I import a list of leads. Those leads are now in the system. I'd like to make a select few of these leads available to users and employees inside SugarCRM - I don't want them to have the entire list.

Is there any way that I can "assign" these leads to people in maybe a somewhat automated nature?

The goal is to be able to give these users a "pool" of 100 leads at any given time. If they close out a lead, or have a bad lead, they can discard that lead, but I want that pool to stack up to equal 100 again. I want each individual user to have unique leads like this, but not have the whole list available.

You can use role security to only allow users to view records that are assigned to them

When you import the leads into the system, they will all be auto assigned to your user. In the Lead list view, you can filter the Leads to display only your items. You can then use the mass update area to mass select (or check off) leads and assign them to another user.

If you are looking to have the system auto assign a user a new lead whenever they close an existing one, then this is not an out of the box feature and would require customization.

I've never managed Roles using SugarCRM before, so it looks like I've got an adventure ahead of me, huh?

Hi -

Well. Do a little research. It's pretty simple

What I did was create a Role, and configure 'Leads' as I saw fit. From there, I could take a privileged, or Administrator user, select the leads I wanted to assign, and use Mass Update to assign the leads to an individual user.

Since I didn't want my users sharing leads, I set the scope for View and List to be limited only to that person for whom the leads were assigned.
