Assigning Products, Sales to Contacts

Hi -

Looks like this one is only going to be available with non-CE versions, but I was looking for some sort of way to bind either products sold or some sales data to my contacts.

Well, let's step back - maybe I'm understanding something wrong here.

The way I understand it is, I take a lead, convert them in to a Contact, at which point they become a customer. From there, I think I should be able to bind any Products that they have purchased or Sales that they have made, to their account. Is that what makes and defines a "person" as an actual Customer in the business sense that SugarCRM recognizes them in?

Do I understand that right?

I've tried playing around a bit with OpenSales, and even though it does look promising, it looks like development on this module will not be around much longer, and I can't assign a pre-made product to the Contact account - I can only add a new product. Naturally, I don't want my guys adding random products, right?

So I guess what my question is, are there a native way in the CE edition to allow tracking of which products Contacts have purchased, or which sales they've been involved with?

Well, upon doing a bit more research, it appears as this is a function of the Professional Edition.
