Default Associating Account when Contact is added in Bug Tracker

    Sugar Version: 4.5.1e

    Hello all,

We are doing a 'proof of concept' for our company so that we can use Sugar instead of the 'leading brands' as it were.

However, a show stopper for us right now is that when we create a new bug and associate it with a contact, the account is not automatically being registered to that bug.

Obviously, from a contact standpoint, you can only associate one account... however, it is plain to see that you can associate multiple contacts to multiple accounts.

When associating a bug with a contact, and there have been multiple accounts associated with a contact... that contact will show up from the pick list multiple times (once for each account).

We NEED to have that account for the contact selected to be 'added' with that particular bug.

From a CRM perspective, we cannot assume that any 'rules' established for support will be adhered and thus when sales/marketing look at their accounts.. they should be able to see the bugs that were added for the contacts by support.

I know, I know... beat support into bloody submission to either a) add both the contact and account at bug creation or b) add the account instead of the contact... but let's be realistic... they won't do it. They get a phone call from a contact, end of story.

    Anyway, PLEASE HELP!!! Thank you!

Ok, as I continue to research this I am finding that a 'hook' might be the right way to go. However, can I put a hook into the bug tracker somewhere that says add Account Info if Contact Info is being added?

I can see where a solution to this problem should not be too difficult... but deciding which 'branch' to go down is the tricky part. I also see that the Queue module has something to do with Contacts, Accounts and Bugs. Anyone care to elaborate one this?

    Again, thanks in advance!

OK, maybe I am not being clear enough as I would have expected someone to have an answer by now!

When I enter a new bug into bug tracker it neither requires a Contact or an Account to get saved.

However, should we add a Contact through the Contact Sub panel in the Bug Tracker, we would LOVE for the Account associated with that Contact to be added in the Accounts_Bugs table during the process of saving said Contact.

I believe a hook is what is going to do the job but I cannot find a good example of how this could or should be done.

    Please, Please, Please HELP!!!!

(If you give us a mailing address, we'll send out a nice gift card to the person who actually SOLVES our small problem!!)

I guess we are just better of with a 'real' solution!
