Default Attach leads to an existing account (reseller)

I want to attach leads to an existing account (reseller in my case).
I work at a distributor and i want to attach several leads (wich I receive from my vendors) to my resellers / customers.

At this moment when i attach a lead to a reseller, company information about the lead (possible end-user) is gone.

So what is the method to attach end-user leads to existing resellers / customers?

    Thank you.

    Hi Michiel,

the way Sugar works, leads will only appear in the Leads subpanel of an account if:
-you convert the lead into a contact/account
-you create a new lead from the subpanel of the account. However, as you have noticed, it will auto show the account name of the account you created it from and will not allow you to change this (not user error). In fact, when you click into the lead record, you will notice at the top that it shows that the lead is 'converted' to that account, since they are linked.

I don't know your specific business flow, however, you might want to consider creating a custom 'type' field on the Contact record, similar to the type field that exists out of the box on the Account record. Then, you can create a Contact and/or Account record for what you describe as the 'lead', and just select the type=lead on that contact. The Contact can then be linked to the existing account, while still having its own Account record and information. You can also link the lead's account to the existing account via the 'member of' field if appropriate.

Thank you for your reply. My business flow works as follows:
    - I receive a lead (mostly download from a specific website of a vendor)
    - This lead contains End Customer information.
    - This lead will be attached to a specific reseller of that product.
    - The reseller gets in contact with the End Customer
    - And hopefully the End Customer will buy the product trough the reseller and us (distributor)

I would like to have the overview about which leads are attached to which partners/resellers.

Exclamation Re: Attach leads to an existing account

    Hello,

    I have the same problem.

Is there anyway convert a lead to an existing account without having to generate an opportunity ? Or to simply tell Sugar that this lead is now a contact of Company X ?

Often enough we have targets that work for big companies. Big companies = many leads possible. When one of those leads becomes a prospect the account is created. In our way of working, all the leads should be transferred at same time to the new account, but never been able to find a way. We do not want leads under an account either.

We've not had Sugar for a long time, and we were under Act before, and sadly we weren't very carefull with Act nor did we wat to cause it was ACT4.0 and it did not contain accounts.

So when the merging of Acto to sugar some mistakes were passed over, mistakes such as leads not being leads but contacts under accounts.

So right now what I do, is convert lead and create a bogus opportunity. but that makes lots of workflows go and creates gaps in our number system.

Also is there a way that when a lead is converted the lead record is destroyed ? For when a lead is converted it,s converted, we don't need junk in our database.

    Anyone have any ideas ?

    Thank you
