Auto check e-mail not working?

I set the e-mail client to check every 5 minutes, it will go back to manual automatically.

Their settings show up under 'inbound mail' settings, the event is completing in the scheduler... should users be getting notifications of new mail via a popup? Or is this just not fully implemented, or am I doing it wrong?

They can manually get mail fine.
