I'm setting up Sugar to help with case management and trying to figure out if I can setup an autoresponder in the Community Edition. If you can point me in the right direction I'd appreciate it.

I have been trying to configure the auto responder functionality with the workflow engine of SugarCRM pro... I have not been very successful to say the least! I would like to send out automatic e-mails to leads a few days after they have registered on our site. No matter how I turn it around, I just can't figure it out. Has anyone already set-up an auto responer functionality on SugarCRM Pro?

I seem to get the run around about whether drip / autoreponder email campaigns are possible. I would love to use SugarCRM community edition. Even pay for a verision if this is feature possible. Can someone from Sugar please set the record straight?
I know there are several threads saying it is possible though a workflow however some are saying it's not possible in the community version. There are apparently 3rd part mods however there is no support and no one can get them working.
I am a little frustrated because I have been searching for a couple of years for something that meets my requirements. I always end back at Sugar EXCEPT they lose me when it comes to the autoresponder part which is essential to my business requirements.
Again can someone from SugarCRM please give some visibility into this much needed function?
Anybody from Sugar have a response to this? Is it possible to configure workflow in Pro to auto respond to a lead created using a web to lead form? I sure haven't been able to get it to work.
You can set up a simple auto-responder when you create group inbox to monitor an email address. This is available in the Community Edition and in the Professional and Enterprise editions.
You can see how to set up the auto-responder in the Admin Guide.
In the Professional Edition, you can set up more complex auto-responders based on specific conditions using Workflow. Basically the Workflow looks like:
If a new Email is created and meets certain conditions
Then send an email reply using a template

Thanks Clint. I use the workflow in Pro quite a bit. Love it. The e-mail autoresponder stuff as you described works quite nicely. But I am trying to get workflow to do this:
web to lead form gets submitted
lead gets automatically created
workflow sends e-mail to new lead from e-mail template
I have been able to get a workflow to send an e-mail to a specified sugar user in this way but not to the lead's e-mail address. I suspect this may have to do with when the workflow gets triggered when the new lead is created.
Has anybody been able to get this to work? If not, I would be happy to create a feature request for this. Seems like a natural thing to do with the web to lead functionality.

I filed a feature request,23930. In 5.x we redefined the relationship between leads and email addresses. A lead can have multiple emails, this normalization took away the capability of sending emails to leads/contacts etc..
