I was wondering if there was a way to set up if I assign a task to someone in the system can I have Sugar send an e-mail automaticlly to the person it's assigned to?

Login as admin, click Admin on the upper right to access the control panel and then choose E-mail Settings..
Make sure you enable the notifications there and save your settings.
