automated email linking

How do i have an email automatically become attached to a contact? I want an incoming email to be automatically related/connected to the contact with that email. Is this possible?

If you have a Contact registred in your SugarCRM with a mail account. When this contact send an email to Sugar user, this message automatically will be related with this contact.

Example:
You have a contact: "Contact Test" with mail account "test@test.com";
You have a user: "User Test" wih mail account "user@user.com";
The contact send an email to the user;
The User receive this message in the SugarCRM mail client;
This message will be related with this contact and will appears on the History subpanel.

In order for this to happen doesn't the email address need to be assigned to a group and the appropriate cron jobs need to be running?

You can do this through cron job or you can import selected emails. The key is that email SHOULD be imported to sugar either via cron or manual import.

I must cklik 'Import to SugarCRM" in the SugarCRM mail client;

If you create a group mail box attached with group folder, then it will auto import all the messages.
