    Default Back up Sugar

    Hello there

I'm scratching my head here and trying to figure out where I'm going wrong. Downloaded 4.2.0 Bitrock Windows installer. Got the application running and started filling in data. Went to the admin section to backup and I always get "The page cannot be displayed".

    1. What am I supposed to enter into the directory field? I've tried c:\ and also a network share \\server\sugarcrm
    2. What am I supposed to enter into the filename field? I've tried single filename also filename.zip

The manual doesn't have any information. Please could someone advise as I'd be very gratefull. I don't want to start using Sugar for live data until I know it can be backed up successfully.

I'm prepared to pay for someone to help me.

    Thanks

    Martin

I had big problems workings with sugar's backup system. My problems finished when i start making backups with phpmyadmin.
Try to use it, and if you want info about that program just ask me

Or just use the mysqldump command from the terminal (Dos in windows).

    mysqldump -u USER -pPASSWORD SUGAR_DATABASE >SUGARBK.sql

(replace USER, PASSWORD and SUGAR_DATBASE with your sugar settings.

    Martin,

There is some confusion in the other responses there. Just to clarify:

There are 2 backups you need to perform regularly

    1. Database back up
For this, you can use phpMyAdmin, it is fairly straight forward, just select a name for your back up file and select all the tables of the crm database, I normally back up the data as well as the database structure.
    2. SugarCRM application files
This is what you can do within Sugar as an Admin user. As the directory just use one of the directories behind the CRM root, I normally use data since it is already available there. Do not enter any slashes, just enter data there and type a name for your back up file. That is it.

    Hope this helps

    Regards

    Ramiro

    Hi All,

Taking the back-up is very important to be on the safer side. There are few steps to take the back-up at http://sugarcrm.openapp.org/?p=141

    Hope this helps.
