Best way to upgrade to Sugar 5.5.1?

Hi,
I am a little new to sugar crm. I have the windows version with mysql installed on my server. I am currently using 5.5. How can I upgrade my version to 5.5.1? I tried downloading the latest version and in the upgrade wizard, upload that zip file but it was giving me some error about manifest.php. I did a search but did not really get anywhere.

Also, when SugarCRM 6 is officially released, will there be an upgrade path? I did a lot of customization to my sugar database and have lots of data stored in since I first installed Sugar a few months ago.
