Blank field as default in drop down

Hi,

I'm new to SugarCRM and I'm trying to get a field to have a default value of blank for the drop down.

From what I can tell I'm putting the right settings into place but I can't seem to get the settings to save.

I have attached screen shots of what I'm running into. Can anyone see what might be going wrong?

Ok - I think that it might be the difference between a cloned field and a regular field. All my clone fields don't let me change the default value. Any ideas on how I could get the clones to take on a new default value?

Which Sugar version are you using? As with Sugar 6.1GA, I couldn't regenerate the same issue. But if you want to change the default value to null, you need to alter _cstm table of the module of yours having that field, change the default value to NULL and in fields_meta_data search for row for your custom field i.e. service_type_c and make default_value to null. And then try Quick Repair and Rebuild, it should not generate any queries for this field.
