Blank screen when opening sugar instance

Dear All

I have sugar CE 6.3.1 installed on a hosted server. I edited config.php file to the following,

'default_permissions' =>
array (
'dir_mode' => 1517, //Was 1528 by default
'file_mode' => 436, //Was 432 by default
'user' => '',
'group' => '',

This was to get my charts dashlets to work, of which they did. But when I closed and reopened my sugar instance I go a blank screen. Is my config.php file corrupt? Do I need to reinstall sugar after backing up my database and sugar files?

Double check error log of your web server.

What did you edit your config.php in? It might have added a BOM to the top of the file which might keep it from working.

You could also edit your php.ini file and turn on


display_errors=on

and restart the webserver and that would send errors to the screen and you might be able to figure it out there way. You might to ask your host admin to do this just to make sure something doesnt get added to this file as well.

Dear andopes and kbrill thanks for the response. I found some config.php file starting with some funny characters which I removed now the problem is resolved.
