Bug fixed in 6.2, but need the patch for 5.5.4?

Hi,
Trying to get the get_entry_list through soap to work, however, the query is modified when passed (basically all quotes, ampersands and special characters are removed)
it's a known but: SugarCRM Bug Tracker | Open Source Business & Social CRM - SugarCRM
which has been fixed.
We cant upgrade our client's crm as yet, so i would like some help to know what can be done to fix nusoap IN sugarcrmCE 5.5.4
I've tried using the nusoap library from 6.3, but the queries still don't work
any help welcome

I'm running Version 6.3.0 (Build 7004) and I still have this bug.
