    Default Camaings for Accounts

    Hi there

I would like to ask you something pretty simple however I dont know if I can get it with SugarCRM.

Basically we would like to use the Campaing module in SugarCRM CE 5.2 but target list must be accounts and not contacts.

Let me explain you, we have a new service that we would like to promote to a list of accounts that we have in our SugarCRM system. All these accounts have the same "Type". As they are new accounts we do not have any contact assigned to them, so we would need to introduce ourselfs and the product in a first Cold Call.

We would like to create a campaing setting as Target List the accounts with that Type, and measure the number of calls done and planned for the campaing and the number of meetings got for this campaing.

Our question is: How can we create this Campaing using Accounts as target lists?

Also we can see in the Campaings description in Sugarcrm.com that we could follow the campaing process and status in graphs or dashboards... however we do not find these graphs of the campaing in our SugarCRM 5.2. Is it only for Sugar Profesional??... maybe we dont have it as the Campaing has been created incorrectly?

Thanks a lot in advance for your help!

    Luis

Well, you can't add Accounts as Targets ... but I guess you already figured that ... so you would need to have an email address for each account (which beggars the question ... if you have an email address, why don't you have a contact? ... I have an answer but it's not a good one).

So, export Accounts to accounts.csv and import the accounts.csv to targets and assign them to the target list you need. Mandatory field is last name so you may wish to use account name for that.

You will not see any campaign graphs until you have successfully created and sent a campaign

Hi and thanks a lot for the answer.

So if my understanding is correct ( and forgive me if I am wrong as this is the first time we will create a campaing in SugarCRM) we can only create Campaings using Contacts or Contact mail address as targets. Also another question, when you say
so you would need to have an email address for each account
Is it mandatory to use in Campaings?
Imagine that you are in a situation like we are where you only have the accounts address, phone.. and general mail like "info@company.com". Will not we be able to create campaings for "Cold Call" Actions?

Your suggestion sounds like a workaround, and we will try it... however regarding the charts showing the progress of the campaing, do you know if we will be able to track the number of meetings, calls, oportunities won (or in another status) and not only the mails created for the campaing?

Our business is not related at all with promoting products by mail... after reading about the Campaings module, even it looks great, seems to be focused in this type of Campaings... based in your knowledge, do you think it can be use to track other kind of "Marketing Campaings" rather than mail promotion?

Thanks a lot for your thoughts in advacne

yes you can use for cold calls.... but if you create targets for telemarketing ... you cannot schedule actions against a target ... so recalls cannot be set
