Campaign e-mails, disappearing '+' symbol

When creating an HTML e-mail template within SugarCRM, the '+" symbol seems to disappear when the e-mail is opened in the recipient end. The '+' symbol is clearly visible on the interface itself, but when e-mailed out it is no longer in the e-mail itself! This is very frustrating as you can imagine.
