Default Campaign emails not sending, test works fine

    Sugar Version (6.0 CE)
    Category (Campaigns)
    Operating System (CENT OS)
    PHP Version (5.2.4)
    Database (MySQL 5.1.50)
    Web Server (Apache 2.1.6)
    Host Company: Host Gator

    Steps to reproduce:

    1. Setup up campaign
    2. Send Test
    3. Receive emails to test accounts
    4. click on URL's see that they are tracked from test mail previously sent
    5. Hit Send Mail for campaign
    6. Review message Queue - No messages
    7. Verified Jobs Scheduler is on
    8. Verified host cron job is running
    9. Reviewed error log nothing found.

Unsure of issue some assistance would be appreciated.

    Few questions here:

    • Do you have a default target list set up, and is your email (the email itself, not just the campaign) assigned to send to this default target list? Without a default list, the campaign has nowhere to send to.
    • Are the campaign and campaign email active? The email will not send without this being true
    • Is the campaign email campaign time set to a time that has already passed? The email will wait to be sent for a time after the current date/time
    • Have you sent this campaign email before? The email will automatically suppress sending to the same email addresses again.

    Thank you for the response.

    Here are the answers:
    1. Do you have a default target list set up, and is your email (the email itself, not just the campaign) assigned to send to this default target list? Without a default list, the campaign has nowhere to send to. I do have a target list setup. for testing it has 3 contacts, all of which have emails an are not opted out. I have confirmed that the under the email marketing section that the following option is checked ... Select to choose all Target List(s) in the Campaign.
    2. Are the campaign and campaign email active? I have confirmed that both are in the active state. The email will not send without this being true
    3. Is the campaign email campaign time set to a time that has already passed? The email will wait to be sent for a time after the current date/time I set it into the future, although it is my understanding from the system documentation it will execute items in the past if they have not executed yet. I state that as I am concerned about the job schedulers and how they relate to the cron job on the server.
    4. Have you sent this campaign email before? The email will automatically suppress sending to the same email addresses again. To be sure I set up a new email campaign. Still no results.

Thank you for your reply. Any other ideas?

One item to note is that I have confirmed that my host server (not sugar) cron job is executing as I am receiving an email every 15 minutes. Do the cron job and the sugar job need to be kept in sync?

On the first question, I need you to clarify that you have a default target list set up as well as your test list (i.e. you should have at least 2 lists in your target list subpanel, one of type 'test' and one of type 'default). I ask because test emails get sent to the test list, actual email sending gets sent to the default list.

On my third question, I might have confused you a little, so let me explain. If your emails are set to be sent at a future time, then they will not be sent until that time. If the time is current or passed, then the email will send immediately. I didn't mean that you should switch it to the future.

And no, your cron doesn't need to be in sync - Sugar knows to execute jobs that have passed within the time frame between this cron run and the last cron run. I can furthermore tell you that this isn't a cron problem, because cron has nothing to do with adding emails to the email queue, just sending them out from the queue, so if they're not getting added then the problem is occurring before that.

If you do have a default list and you're still not seeing any emails, you can check your campaign status and a graph should show up displaying certain campaign actions such as 'messages sent/attempted'. There's a button to remove all test entries in there, so if you click that button and you've got no entries in this column, then at least you know that sugar isn't even trying to send emails. If there are entries, then sugar is firing the code to send an email, but there's a bug thats preventing the email from entering your queue.

Thank you very much it was the default email list not being present.

I am now seeing data in the tracking capability. It appears that the chart and details records do not align on the click through rates. It appears that click though in the chart displays the appropriate count for all URL's while the list view display is only reflecting one URL (the first touched.)
