Default Campaign trackers pointing to external URLs not loading properly

    Hello all,

I am having a problem with campaign trackers pointing to external URLs. We have a email newsletter with links back to articles on our site as well as on third-party sites. The trackers that point to links on our site load great; however, links to third-party sites fail to load any images or CSS - it is weird, but the article shows up, but only the text.

It seems as if the tracker doesn't really forward a user to the third-party page - it looks as if it sets up a frame and pulls it in. For example, I point to an article on "http://www.newelectronics.co.uk". When I click on the link in the email, it sends me to: http://www.mydomain.com/campaigns/index.php?entryPoint=campaign_trackerv2&track=3c35 6ac8-3222-6754-3d99-49b022766055&identifier=20486501-16e7-fa66-82a6-49b6c0e3019b

Any help or pointers would be greatly appreciated. The only workaround I have at the moment is to put the actual URLs into the email, bypassing the trackers altogether (at least for external, third-party sites).

    Gareth.

Default Re: Campaign trackers pointing to external URLs not loading properly

Some additional info: it seems to only affect sites that use relative tagging. Some external links are fine. The difference seems to be:

    Example 1: <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="/styles/base.css" />
    Example 2: <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="http://www.companyxyz.com/styles/base.css" />

If a third-party site has coded their image and css tags as the first example, the tracker doesn't work correctly. If a third-party site has coded their css and images with absolute tags (i.e. identifying the domain), it loads fine.

    Any thoughts?

    Gareth.
