Campaigns & Tracking URL

How does the Tracking URL work? I am looking for clarification on what is required but can't seem to locate anything in the help system.

In the HOW-TO it states:
"if you set values for both tracker text and tracker url. The text will be appended to your email message as a link with the tracker url as the target. When the recipients of your email click on the tracker text they will be redirected to the tracker url and a click-thru campaign log entry will be created."

Does the Track URL have to be a valid existing website? Do I have to use my Company's web site URL or can I use any URL that I wish such as http://mytrackingurl.com?

Hello,

You can enter in as many tracker URLs as you want within your email for the campaigns. The tracker text is just a name you give the tracker to help you identify it when you want to place it into your email template (in the case when you have more than one tracker URL).

As I stated above, you can create as many trackers as you want, they do not have to be your company URL. You would want these links to go to a valid website -- the idea is that you are sending a group of people an email with links to products or sites that might interest them. So they click on the links in your email because these links will bring them to a site of interest. And you in turn can track to see how many people took the time to view the links and which one were most popular etc.

Hi,

Can you actually track how many clicks you've had per tracker? I've run a few campaigns and Sugar only tells me how many clicks have been made in total, not separated by the different tracking URLs. Of course you've then got a list further below, but I don't feel like counting lines for 500-1000 contact campaigns, and as far as I can tell, I can't get a report to identify which of my contacts clicked each link.
Any help would be appreciated!
