Default Can I use two Databases for SugarCRM?

I have an old CRM system(NOT Sugar) stored some important data and i don't want to transfer it to the Sugar's DB.
Now i want to build a new module in SugarCRM and let this module get data from the old DB. Is it possible? In other words is it possible for different module in sugarCRM access different DB? If yes, how?

    Thanks in advance.
