Default Can a new contact record "inherit" the phone from the account record?

    Hi all,

I'm a newbie with SugarCRM, and so far I really like what I see!

I have a question ... is it possible to set up the system so that when a new contact record is created it grabs the phone number from the company from which is was created?

Or perhaps better yet ... is it possible to set up the system to that when the contact record is viewed (either in list or detail view), it displays the account phone number instead of the contact phone number?

The reason I want to do this is that for the market we serve, it would be incredibly rare that any of the contacts have a phone number other than the one shared by the company.

    Thanks,
    Dave

    Hi,

If you create a Contact either from the Account dialog (subpanel Contacts) or select the Account Name when creating the Contact, you automatically get info added from the Accooutn dialog, Tel. No, Address etc.

    Hope this helps
    Cheers Malcolm

That helps. I got turned around because of the import. I guess I was looking for a way for the import to do the work of matching up phone numbers for accounts and contacts. The import source is in a structure which contains just a contact level with no parent account. (I'm importing from Act 6).

    Thanks
