Cannot save roles

Hi,
i have a following problem:
i got sugarcrm version 5.1.0a, recently i tried to duplicate one of the roles we have, and it duplicated successfuly but the details for the role (like access details for each module) appeared as NOT-SET. I tried to manually proceed and set them up, but once i pushed save it said 'saving' then 'loading page' and then they all went back to NOT-SET. I didn't have any sql error or nothing. Additionally i tried to create a role from scratch with the same effect, i can create a role, add users to it, even i can delete this role - but there's no way to specify details because everytime i try to save them they tweak back to not set.
could anybody help me out please? i have to get this done very urgently

I have a similar issue using version 6.1.3. I can create roles,edit properties, and assign users, but noting saves to the database.

When in Sugar I can go into Admin/Role Management and see the roles I created, but they are not usable in any other module. If I go directly into the MySQL database there is no data saved in the roles table. I have completely deleted Sugar and re-installed, created a new database, and I still have the same issue.

Any suggestions?.
