Cannot send emails on windows server

I've seen a lot of posts on here about people having troubles sending emails, but none of them were quite like the problem I'm having. After installing Sugar 4.5.1b (Build 1246), I cannot send emails. I'm running on Windows server and I configured Sugar to use SMTP. I'm not getting any errors from sugar when I send the email, it just takes me to a review screen showing the email I just sent, but there is no sent date. Plus, when I go to Sent Emails... all my emails say "Send Error" under the Type and Status columns. I checked sugarcrm.log and this is where it gets interesting. The log is stating I have a sendmail error even though I have SMTP selected?!

Hi!

Your problem is that send mail doesn't work with windows.

So you have to use SMTP server for sending emails.

Yes, i realize that sendmail doesn't work with windows, if you read my post I stated that I am trying to use SMTP, but even though I have SMTP selected in the admin settings, the errors I'm receiving in the error log are related to sendmail. It just doesn't make sense.

I've found that no matter what you set the outgoing mail settings to in the admin settings, the user specific settings still default to sendmail. To get it to work I had to go into each individual users settings and enter the smtp server.
