Cannot send out marketing emails, please help!

Hi,

I use Email module and it works already (I set up IMAP and I can send/receive emails).

But when I create Marketing campaign and send a test email, the screen shows that "Test email sent" but the recipient does not receive any email. I also go to Admin -> Email Queue, but there is no email there.
I set up SMTP in Email settings as instructed by my host provider (Hostgator), but this does not work.

Can you please let me know what is wrong so I can correct it?
Do I need to make a cron job? If so, what is the script and how can I do this? (I see there is a cron job section in my host panel)

You should ask the recipient of the email to check spam and junk folders

I used my personal email (Gmail) to test this so there is no email was sent. I checked both inbox and spambox but there is no email there.

Do the Campaign details say "x email(s) sent"?
