Can't add dashlets

I am trying to add dashlets to my homepage and when I attempt to do so I get the following:

1) On one system it lets me add the dashlet but when I navigate away from the homepage it resets it back the way it was.

2) On another system I get the following error message:

Warning: require_once(/usr/local/www/sugarcrm) [function.require-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /usr/local/www/sugarcrm/include/MySugar/MySugar.php on line 131

Fatal error: require_once() [function.require]: Failed opening required '' (include_path='/usr/local/www/sugarcrm/include/..:.:/usr/local/share/pear') in /usr/local/www/sugarcrm/include/MySugar/MySugar.php on line 131

I am not sure if they are related and I am not a developer so am at a loss as to where to start. Any help would be much appreciated.

Delete the file cache/dashlets/dashlets.php and try again.
