Can't get custom tab to show in upgraded version

We're having an issue with our upgraded install where when we install a custom module the tab will not show up. It won't show in Configure Tabs as well even after Repairing most everything. This module does install on a clean 5.0 install. I have it pinned to the custom directory. If I remove the custom directory from the upgraded version and replace with the custom directory of a clean install the tab shows fine. I've checked the moduleList, beanList, and beanFiles arrays in the custom directory and they all look clean.

Any ideas of what to look for?

Found it, it's a bad custom/Include/language/en_us.lang.php file. I removed it then the tab showed just fine.

$GLOBALS['app_list_strings']['moduleList'] was being redefined in there.
