can't send emails

Hi

I have sugar community edition version Version 5.2.0i (Build 5757)

I can't send emails due to this error

Error emailing:SMTP Error: Could not connect to SMTP host.

Now I have my own server and these are the smpt settings


SMTP Server: mail.the-time-master.co.uk SMTP Port:26
Use SMTP Authentication yes? Enable SMTP over SSL no
SMTP Username: paul@the-time-master.co.uk SMTP Password:Paul password

These setting work fine in out look

First of all I hope those settings are anonymised!!

Have you selected the MTA as SMTP in Admin>email settings? ... I think that it defaults to sendmail

yes it is set up at SMPT in the admin.

Also when you go to email you can set up an account that is independent to the admin settings . So I have tried both ways.

I can receive emails but can't send
